The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) was created in
October 2008 to bring together energy policy and climate change
mitigation policy. Hundreds of Government institutions and
departments, including local County Councils, have several
directives under the DECC. The Energy Measures Report created by
the DECC outlines the steps that local Government need to take to
ensure lower carbon emissions and a greener working environment.
These steps include:
- To improve energy efficiency
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- To increase the levels of low carbon technologies
Verismic Power Manager delivers detailed monitoring of system
activity and the application of granular power reduction
policies to greatly reduce electricity consumption, costs, and
carbon emissions. The application is multi-language,
multi-currency, features low end user impact, and also provides
comprehensive reporting tools to measure and assess benefits.
Herefordshire County Council is one of the County Councils
working with Verismic Software implementing Power Manager. A
coherent PC Power Management policy could save over 250kgs of
CO2 per PC per year and based on these figures Verismic
estimates that Herefordshire County Council can save over 1
million kwh of energy annually, the equivalent of powering over
100 residential homes.
