Washoe County School District Implements PC Power Management Solution From Verismic To Save Taxpayer Money. The School District Will Increase Stewardship of Community Environment While Saving Up To $500,000 Each Year in Energy Costs
Washoe County School District is the second largest in Nevada and includes the metropolitan areas of Reno and Sparks. The school district serves 63,000 students across 93 school sites and employs 7,500 staff members.
The National School Boards Association recently honored Washoe County School District for increasing its graduation rate, increasing the achievement of low-income and minority students, and placing highly qualified teachers in its schools with the greatest need.

Founded in 1961, Portland Community College is Oregon’s
largest institution of higher learning serving the five-county area
of Multnomah, Washington, Yamhill, Clackamas, and Columbia
counties. Portland Community College enrolls more than 92,000 students every year and has an IT staff of 113.
PCC has a deep commitment to sustainability, working tirelessly on green issues, reducing waste and leading it to develop and follow its own Climate Action Plan. Its current CAP goals are to reduce green house gas emission levels 40% below 2006 levels by 2030.
Curtin University will save an extra $204,000 per year on electricity costs, 1,130,500 kWh of power consumption and 1,215,000 kg of carbon emission from their 8,500 PC fleet by using Verismic Power Manager, over and above savings achieved from Microsoft SCCMR3. Curtin University will achieve a pay back of five months by using Verismic Power Manager
Curtin University has an established reputation as an environmentally sustainable organisation and Curtin IT Services (CITS) has recognised the role of Information Technology as a key enabler in this work and is working actively to help ensure ICT use on campus is more environmentally friendly.

Chapman University Gives Verismic an A+ in Power Management. Chapman University to save $117,438.75 per year with Verismic’s User-Friendly Power Manager Software. “The pilot was easy to implement, the software was simple to install, and the whole process was seamless” - Michelle Sypinero, Manager of Student Computing Services.
Chapman is privately held university located in Orange County, California. It was founded in 1861 and has 6,300 students currently enrolled in its programs. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious campuses in California and prides itself on providing personalized education to its students. Chapman has been named one of the top universities in the nation by u.s.

Verismic Power Manager was initially deployed across 7,600 PCs at BVSD, installing the software onsite using virtual server technology. Over the next 12 months, the BVSD IT team rolled the solution out to a further 2,400 machines over several sites, bringing together the benefi ts of the power management technology and the dashboard overview of energy usage to demonstrate opportunities for further savings. The IT team is now able to control power settings on thousands of computers via a single interface.
Boulder Valley Schools District (BVSD) is part of a very environmentally conscious community. Boulder prides itself on being a US leader in sustainability and the city has clear environmental goals. These goals include offering residents and businesses a reliable and affordable power supply, ensuring a clear path toward a clean energy future by reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, and offsetting the city’s carbon footprint. As an active community hub, the Schools District was keen to take a role in making this happen.
Verismic Power Manager is being used by Text 100 to manage the power settings on all of its client PCs in 18 countries. Through centrally administered power management policies, Text 100 can monitor the usage of its entire client PC estate and power down those PCs which are inactive for prolonged periods of time. In one year, the company has reduced the power used by its PCs, laptops and monitors by 24 per cent.
Global communications agency Text 100 has offices in 24 countries and since its inception has fostered a culture of entrepreneurialism and social responsibility. The company has an IT team based on four continents responsible for the management of its technology assets, including client PCs and servers in every office. Text 100 was looking for a solution that would enable it to reduce carbon emissions and costs of its client PC estate whilst retaining the ability to manage systems and deploy software to multiple users.
South Lanarkshire Council is using device power management software from Verismic Software to save £40,000 per annum in energy costs relating to its 4,500 desktop and laptop PCs in use at multiple sites across the region. Successfully in use for one year following a gradual, staged deployment, the software delivered Return On Investment (ROI) to the Authority in less than 12 months.

The software also generates monthly savings reports, which can be shared with the Authority’s Head of IT, management and ‘green team’ for further review. The energy savings contribute to the Authority’s Carbon Management Plan, which includes aims to help the Council cut its carbon emissions, reduce its environmental impact and improve its reputation within the community.
In the summer of 2009 PECI underwent a thorough evaluation of several power management solutions, selecting PC Power Management vendor Verismic’s Power Manager software as a fi nalist.
